Family-run since 2011, Hull Building Center aims to be the first choice for contractors and consumers for lumber and hardware in North Central Michigan. Our goal every day is to provide a different kind of retail experience. We want our customers to experience the best customer service anywhere — to know they are cared for and appreciated. Our motto says it best: “Helping you is the most important thing I have to do today!”

In the beginning, Hull Building Center was just a small building with a dirt floor — but Kelly’s father, Robert, saw something more. He had a vision of turning it into a lumber company that would not only help people build their homes but also build their lives by creating jobs within the community. Through hard work and faith, he built it up from the ground into a place where the community could come for quality materials, friendly service, and honest help.

As time went on, the business changed hands a few times until it finally landed in the hands of Troy. When Troy purchased the Lumber Company in 2011, he named it ‘Hull Building Center’ — adding to its foundation, expanding its reach, and keeping its heart for people and community strong.

Troy brings 37 years of construction experience and 35 years in the lumber business, combining deep knowledge with a passion for serving others.
​
Kelly grew up in this very business. Along with her experience in sales, she also has hands-on experience building houses, giving her a unique understanding of both the products they sell and the projects their customers take on.
​
It was here, at the lumber company, that Troy and Kelly met. What began as coworkers grew into a lifelong partnership — in marriage and in business. Together, they have carried on the legacy as a family-owned business, giving all credit and glory to God for every opportunity and blessing.
